Buckles for Stainless Steel Banding
Metal Strap® buckles are a fantastic choice for those who require a strong connection between the two banding strap ends when securing bulkier items within industrial settings.
Common applications can range from fastening fences, motorway signs or even securing concrete hoses.
Workers within the construction and Oil&Gas prefer the banding buckles as they are made from thicker material than the banding clips, thus providing stronger camp over the application.
What Buckle Sizes are Available?
Metal Strap® offers 5 most commonly used buckle sizes for stainless steel banding:
Note that all sizes that range from 9mm to 19mm are considered as ‘Standard’, and a standard banding strap tool should be used. Where 25mm and 32mm sizes are considered as ‘Giant’, and the ‘Giant’ tool should be used to secure these sizes of banding.
What Grades are Abailable?
We supply SS banding buckles of the following 3 grades:
Grade 201 is the most cost efficient option, and by far the most popular compared to rest the of stainless grades. Grades 304 and 316 are less popular across the UK, but still commonly used due to the long lasting properties that these grades provide.
Here is more detail on each grade and their benefits.
Grade 201 Buckles
201 Stainless Steel buckles are the most widely used buckles and is the most popular option across the Metal Strap range within the in UK and worldwide, Another advantage of the 201 grade is that it is the most cost efficient when compared to other grades of stainless steel banding products, while still providing that great corrosion resistant properties.
*Please note that Stainless Steel Band and Buckles have to be the same size and grade in order to complete a secure application. Grade 201 Stainless Steel Band applications, must be use Grade 201 Stainless Steel Buckles.
Grade 304 Buckles
304 Stainless Steel buckles are the perfect choice for higher corrosive environments where the materials will be exposed to water or salt more frequently. Grade 304 buckles are widely used within the food industry to comply with regulations and give that extra protection from corrosion.
*Please note that Stainless Steel Band and Buckles have to be the same size and grade in order to complete a secure application. Grade 304 Stainless Steel Band applications, must be use Grade 304 Stainless Steel Buckles.
Grade 316 Buckles
316 Stainless Steel buckles are the top of the line when it comes to product strength & toughness when compared to 201 or 304 grade. This grade of metal is often used in pharmaceutical, nuclear and aviation industries where cost saving is not an option, and the highest level of corrosion protection is required.
*Please note that Stainless Steel Band and Buckles have to be the same size and grade in order to complete a secure application. Grade 316 Stainless Steel Band applications, must be use Grade 316 Stainless Steel Buckles.
Tips for Maximum Strength
It is essential to choose the right product for your requirements. The sealing process is crucial to achieve the strength required and each step should be taken with care.
The strength of any application will depend on the following factors:
- Grade of stainless steel material
- Width of the banding strap
- Thickness of the banding strap
- if clips or buckles are being used (buckles being stronger)
- Application technique
- Tool used (single hand or double hand tool)
For extra durability, there is always an option to feed the banding strap twice over the application, which would require to feed the strap through the buckle twice.
Banding clips do not offer this option, as they are a better option for lighter duty applications.
MetalStrap Buckles have an extremely high levels of breaking strenght which makes them a perfected option for heavy duty packaging and bundling applications.
